Sermon Notes 2-21-10     

At Home in Sodom
Genesis 19:1-29  

It’s an issue of conformity.  

“Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave
themselves to sexual immorality and perversion”   
                                                           Jude 7  

“In the same way, let your light shine before men, that
they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in
heaven.”                                             Matthew 5:16  

We are extraordinary people with an extraordinary
purpose in this world.  

1. Evaluate Everything

“Test everything.  Hold on to the good.  Avoid every
kind of evil.”                       1 Thessalonians 5:21-22

You will base your life either on the Word or you will
base your life on the world.  

2. Develop strong convictions

“Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this
world, but be transformed by the renewing of your
mind.  Then you will be able to test and approve 
what God’s will is – his good, pleasing and perfect
will.”                                               Romans 12:2  

3. Love God with all my heart

“Love God with all your heart, with all your soul, 
with all your mind, with all your strength.”   

4. Influence others for God

“You are the salt of the earth”

“You are the light of the world”
